Background

To support the construction industry's digital transformation, the role of Human-Data Interaction (HDI) has become increasingly crucial. HDI focuses on how humans generate, process, and utilize data, particularly in the context of construction management. The integration of HDI principles with OpenBIM practices offers new opportunities to enhance data quality, accessibility, and decision-making processes. This combination addresses the challenges of managing complex digital information while ensuring that human factors are considered in the design and implementation of construction management systems.

Special Issue Goals
The goal of this special issue is to address the challenges and opportunities arising from the integration of OpenBIM and Human-Data Interaction (HDI) in advanced construction management. Despite the potential benefits of OpenBIM, the construction industry still faces significant hurdles in its widespread adoption, including interoperability issues, data quality concerns, and resistance to change. Simultaneously, the increasing digitalization of construction processes has led to a pressing need for a better understanding and implementation of HDI principles.

This Research Topic aims to explore innovative approaches that leverage OpenBIM and HDI synergies to enhance collaboration, improve data management, and optimize decision-making in construction projects. We seek to investigate how OpenBIM can facilitate seamless data exchange and integration across different stakeholders and software platforms while incorporating HDI principles to ensure that human factors are adequately addressed in the design and implementation of digital construction management systems.

Recent advances in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital twin technologies offer promising avenues for achieving these goals.
