The future horizon of quality education encourages the necessary formation of reasoning that enables a closer approach to complexity, as a priority for a society in search of new solutions; therefore, the challenge will be to form citizens with critical, scientific, systemic and entrepreneurial thinking, who are also empathetic, cooperative and committed to sustainable development. AI brings with it horizons for lifelong learning. UNESCO (2021) indicates that technological advances, particularly around artificial intelligence and automation, will create new jobs and complement and augment the skills of workers in existing jobs. Hence, including the role played by AI in addressing current inequalities in access to knowledge, research and diversity of cultural expressions, and ensuring that AI does not widen the technological divide within and between countries, is everyone's task (UNESCO, 2023). What can AI contribute to the complexity of higher education and lifelong learning?
