About this Research Topic
AI brings with it horizons for lifelong learning. UNESCO (2021) indicates that technological advances, particularly around artificial intelligence and automation, will create new jobs and complement and augment the skills of workers in existing jobs. Hence, including the role played by AI in addressing current inequalities in access to knowledge, research and diversity of cultural expressions, and ensuring that AI does not widen the technological divide within and between countries, is everyone's task (UNESCO, 2023). What can AI contribute to the complexity of higher education and lifelong learning? Studies such as: analysis of systematic mappings using machine learning and the supervision of human experts to overcome some limitations of traditional ones (Despujol, et al., 2022), or practical applications with teachers integrating Generative Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, from complexity approaches (RamÃrez-Montoya, et al., 2023), can expand knowledge from theoretical and applied research will lead to new avenues of action from the frontier of education. This Research Topic invites you to share case studies and original research in the context of the complexity of the present and future of education.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
* AI in educational scenarios: AI in higher education (administration, teaching, learning, research), applications in digital education, educational innovation, instructional design, adaptive learning.
*AI in complexity: training in complex competences, global challenges, entrepreneurship, educational models, interdisciplinary scenarios.
*New opportunities with AI in education and open science: MOOCs, OER, open practices, open knowledge, open innovation, open technologies, open platforms.
