In clinical practice, depressive or irritable moods are often reported as comorbidities among patients with Substance Use Disorders (SUD). Such dual disorders pose difficult challenges to mental health professionals when diagnosing disorders or implementing their effective treatment. For example, depression could also be considered a risk factor for relapse in alcohol use disorder. For mental health professionals, comprehensive etiological findings of dual disorders could not only provide more precise assessment and diagnosis but could also develop more effective treatments for dual disorders.
The goal of this Research Topic is to provide get an in-depth understanding of dual disorders in addiction and mood disorders. More specifically, the aim is to
