The purpose of this Research Topic is to provide a forum that allows investigative teams to discuss the changing local treatment options and their associated controversies in both locally-advanced and early-stage lung cancer.

We are encouraging colleagues in our respective fields to submit their original research or strongly opinionated, but well-referenced review articles concerning the challenges and controversies involved in the management of lung cancer with local treatment modalities. We would like articles in this Research Topic edition to be thought-provoking and possibly conflicting in order to stir the imagination of the readers and to help other physicians understand the benefits and risk of local management options in the setting of better and more effective systemic therapy.
