Following the success of the first volume of this Research Topic (articles available
here), the Topic Editors are delighted to present this second volume dedicated to Wearable Computing.
ISWC – the
International Conference on Wearable Computers – is the leading event on all research related to wearable technology. Running since 1997, when the first ISWC was held at MIT, the conference serves as a testimony to the longevity of this area of research, in no small part due to the solid foundations laid by an interdisciplinary community spanning a broad range of areas from textile materials and microelectronic systems to information science.
Reflecting the tremendous progress made in wearable computing in recent years, this Research Topic offers a snapshot of the state of the art of this field in 2022 and 2023.
This Research Topic invites authors of papers presented within the Briefs and Notes Track of ISWC 2022 and 2023 to submit an extended version of their work to this collection. Such extended papers should include at least 30% new content, which offers the opportunity to provide additional details beyond what is possible in a conference publication. For instance, authors can expand upon on their work with further details on their motivation, related work, analysis, the presentation of their findings, or their discussion.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Wearable Activity Recognition
- Wearable Assistance and Health
- Wearable Interaction and Perception
- Wearable Sensing
- On-skin Interfaces and e-Textiles
