Obesity is a growing health problem in our society. It has been determined as a major risk factor for many serious health conditions including 13 different types of cancers. Furthermore, it has been reported that obesity increases the risk of cancer related deaths and influences disease management. The molecular link between obesity and cancer is however not clear.
This Research topic aims to highlight novel, original research findings and critical reviews focusing on the identification of the link between obesity and cancers. Specifically, this issue will highlight research that focuses on understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms that drive obesity associated cancers and evaluates novel therapeutic/ preventive strategies that can interfere with disease progression and help in better disease management.
We welcome submissions covering, but not limited to, the following subtopics:
• Recent advances in understanding the role of obesity related factors in cancer development and progression
• Mechanisms regulating obesity-associated cancer promotion
• Therapeutic/ preventive strategies/ interventions that disrupt the molecular link/s and prevent cancer progression
Please note: studies consisting solely of bioinformatic investigation of publicly available genomic/transcriptomic/proteomic data do not fall within the scope of the section unless they are expanded and provide significant biological or mechanistic insight into the process being studied.
We accept different article types including Mini-Reviews, Brief Research Reports and Perspectives. A full list of accepted article types, including descriptions, can be found at this
