About this Research Topic
In this Research Topic, we aim to specifically explore a wide range of diagnostic approaches, therapeutic interventions, and strategies for effectively managing LBP symptoms. This Research Topic will focus on the advances and recommendations on LBP and will serve as a forum to decrease morbidity, mortality, and the global disease burden.
Researchers are encouraged to submit original research, reviews, systematic reviews, perspectives, opinions, and case reports relevant to this article collection that will cover themes such as (but not limited to):
- Advances in the diagnosis of LBP including innovative imaging techniques, biomarkers, and clinical assessment tools to improve diagnostic accuracy and precision
- Genetics of LBP investigating genetic risk factors, gene-environment interactions, and the potential for precision medicine approaches in LBP management
- Systems-based and population-based diagnosis and management of LBP considering healthcare policies, research initiatives, and addressing the diverse needs of populations
- Cultural and ethnic differences in the diagnosis and management of LBP, taking into account variations in beliefs, practices, and healthcare utilization across different communities
- Advances in the treatment of LBP, including therapeutic modalities such as physical therapy, pharmacotherapy, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) approaches, interventional procedures, and surgical interventions
- Surgical and non-surgical management of LBP exploring the effectiveness, safety, and outcomes
- Traditional Chinese medicine and its role in the management of LBP, evaluating its principles, therapeutic modalities, and potential integration with conventional approaches
- Osteopathic and spinal manipulation of LBP assessing their efficacy, safety, and underlying mechanisms in reducing LBP symptoms and improving functional outcomes
- The economics of LBP, focusing on cost-reducing strategies, minimizing disability, and optimizing resource allocation for LBP management
- Evidence-based approaches to LBP care promoting the utilization of high-quality research to guide clinical decision-making and treatment strategies
NOTE: We encourage manuscripts specifically addressing chronic pain in locations other than the low back to be submitted to the topic Advances in Chronic Pain Treatment
Keywords: low back pain, quality of life, diagnosis, treatment, management, spinal manipulation, traditional chinese medicine, genetics, economics
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
