The goal of this Research Topic is to explore the intersection between clinical and molecular liquid biopsy research and health care disparities and access research. The development of self-collected liquid biopsy assays has the potential to reduce disparities in healthcare outcomes by providing more accurate and timely diagnoses, especially for individuals who may be hesitant to undergo invasive procedures or have barriers to healthcare access. The recent advances in self-collection-based assays have the potential to revolutionize healthcare access and equity, and this Research Topic aims to promote ongoing research to explore the benefits and challenges to advancing these new tests to efficiently decrease barriers across populations.
We welcome contributions on the scientific, ethical, social, and economic implications of implementing liquid biopsy tests in clinical practice for early detection and disease monitoring. The scope of this Research Topic includes but is not limited to:
