We are delighted to present the 2023 Women in Chemistry article collection. Following the celebration of International Women’s Day 2023 and the UNESCO International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Frontiers in Chemistry is proud to offer this platform to promote the work of women in this field. At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging women and girls away from science-related fields, and STEM research in particular. Science and gender equality are, however, essential to ensure sustainable development as highlighted by UNESCO. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers. This Research Topic aims to bring the contributions from female researchers in all areas of Chemistry into the spotlight. The work presented here highlights the diversity of research performed across the entire breadth of the discipline. Please note: To be considered for this collection, the leading/corresponding author should be a female researcher. All new articles will be added as they are published. You can find our 2022 Women in Chemistry here .
