About this Research Topic
Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, with a high prevalence and incidence rate due to a toxic environment, such as air pollution and bad habits, such as smoking. Despite the advances made in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, the prognosis for patients remains poor, and there is a clear need for new treatment strategies. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the development of novel therapeutic approaches, including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. However, many challenges still exist, such as drug resistance and toxicity, which need to be addressed.
In this Research Topic, we aim to provide an update on the progress made in the treatment of lung cancer and discuss future prospects.
This topic welcomes submissions of the following article types: Case Report, Clinical Trial, Editorial, General Commentary, Hypothesis & Theory, Methods, Mini Review, Opinion, Original Research, Perspective and Review. The topic welcomes manuscripts covering, but not limited to the following themes:
1. Existing classes of drug traditionally used to treat lung cancer, including but not limited to the following methods: Radio Therapy and Chemotherapy.
2. Recent advances in efforts towards more personalized therapy of lung cancer, such as Targeted Therapy and Immunotherapy.
3. New perspectives in drug development approaches and methods to lung cancer.
4. The update of novel techniques implemented in lung cancer drug discovery.
5. The progress of the fundamental research about lung cancer, such as identifying causal biological pathways and other relevant biomarkers research in cell lines and mice.
6. The advances of the clinical exploration of lung cancer, such as accurate diagnosis. Emerging therapeutic candidates on the horizon for the treatment of respiratory disease.
