About this Research Topic
The objectives of this Research topic are to advance our knowledge of the connection between physical activity, physical exercise, sport, and physical fitness with health, specifically cardiovascular health, obesity, and overweight in children and adolescents. In addition, it aims to deepen our knowledge of the effects that systematic physical exercise programs have on health, quality of life, and cardiovascular markers in children and adolescents, differentiating between different types of exercise. Finally, we aim to provide answers, not only to their effects but also to the specific protocols and parameters that maximize the benefits of physical exercise, depending on the specific variable that we want to influence, in children and adolescents.
We will accept articles on the relationship between physical activity, physical exercise, sport or fitness and obesity, overweight, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, or any other variable related to cardiometabolic diseases. The application of new technologies will be welcome. Research into new training methods, new physical activity practices, different applied techniques, and different protocols will be given special attention. In this sense, we invite all specialists in physical activity and metabolic health to submit their scientific papers related to the area presented here. We are particularly interested in original research articles, systematic reviews, clinical trials, case reports, and study protocols, although other types of papers may be accepted in consultation with the editors.
Keywords: physical activity, obesity, overweight, schoolchildren, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
