In recent years, Technology-Enhanced Learning Environments (TELEs) have significantly innovated teachers' teaching efficiency and teaching effect, helping students to achieve personalized learning and develop their internal potential. Research focused on the change in students’ and teachers’ psychological motivation, personality traits, cognitive level, willpower, emotional changes and mental health in TELEs will help to build a more high-quality and effective blended learning space.
In view of the current studies on the digital transformation of education, there is still a lack of research on the psychological development and transformation of teachers and students based on the perspective of multi-disciplinary integration. This Research Topic focuses on both the teaching activities and teaching psychology of teachers in the context of digital transformation and TELEs, as well as the students' learning activities and learning psychology, with the consideration of the relationship between human and human-computer interaction in online learning and teaching activities.
The proposed manuscripts should focus on the emerging technologies currently applied in the field of education (including but not limited to AI, IoT, SNS, VR, AR, and other new media), and discuss the impact of teaching and learning in the technology-enhanced environment on the psychological transformation of teachers and students. The key research directions are described below:
1. AI can assist students in achieving personalized learning and increasing the frequency and efficiency of teacher-student classroom interactions, but AI-assisted teaching also means that the role of teachers and students needs to be evolved, changed, and adjusted. Therefore, this Research Topic focuses on the impact of AI-assisted classroom management and teaching evaluation on students' and teachers' self-efficacy, learning attitudes, and work enthusiasm in TELEs.
2. IoT currently has many applications in K12 and higher education, such as tracking students' psychological and physical health to improve students' learning efficiency, develop metacognition, and strengthen learning motivation. However, due to the complex system operation as well as the real-time monitoring and feedback, these technological applications may increase the psychological burden of teachers and students. This Research Topic also focuses on ethical issues related to IoT devices collecting and using students' personal, physiological, and learning data, including algorithm bias, data breaches, and their impact on students’ mental health and social relationships.
3. Analyzing the status of children with special challenges in intelligent learning environment can help track their treatment process in the long run. However, research cases have shown that children may face limited access to technological resources due to family economic situations and technology proficiency, given that fitting devices are available to them. Therefore, this study actively focuses on the benefits that technology-supported learning environments can provide for minority students (including those with disabilities, illnesses, and family difficulties) in promoting psychological well-being and educational equity.
This Research Topic calls for research that adopts various methods, especially research methods based on multimodal data, to promote the development of educational psychology under the digital transformation of education. In addition to empirical research, we welcome small reviews, conceptual analyses, and short data reports.
