Addressing chronic disease is a major challenge for healthcare systems worldwide, requiring a long period of supervision, observation, care and/or rehabilitation.
The health effects caused by occupational exposures are a cause for concern worldwide, so it is important to analyse the relationships between work and health, identifying the risk factors that may cause impact to workers health and wellbeing.
To achieve optimal worker health and wellbeing, we should understand the health impact of different exposures and safety conditions at work, including the exposure to biological and chemical agents, as well as the repetitiveness and intensity of the tasks to be carried out and many others.
Chronic diseases are nonreversible, long-duration, and slowly progressing pathologies. Approximately one in three adults suffers from multiple chronic diseases, which represent the leading cause of disability worldwide. The most prevalent chronic conditions are cardiovascular disease, chronic lung disease, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease, commonly associated with higher healthcare costs.
We invite colleagues from all health disciplines to submit articles using qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method approaches. This Research Topic welcomes original research, reviews, opinions and perspectives manuscripts related to environmental occupational exposure and related chronic diseases.
