Age, race, gender and immunologic compatibility of the recipient and donor are preoperative variables that affect function of graft and its survival. The aim and objective of this Research Topic is to discuss the physiological and molecular aspects that affect post-operative graft rejection and general quality of life. In order to improve patient survival, this article collection intends to bring together physician experts in renal transplant treatment and basic researchers working in the field of nephrology/renal replacement therapy on either human or pre-clinical models.
