Over the years, increasing attention from the academic and industrial communities is gained by the development of subsea mineral resources (e.g., oil, gas, hydrates, polymetallic nodules, rare earth), exploitation of renewable marine energy (e.g., wind power, tidal energy, wave energy), extreme weather conditions (e.g. storm surge, high temperature, extreme drought), and protection of the marine environment (e.g. geology, ecology), which is bringing huge opportunities and challenges to the field of marine geology and hydrodynamics environment. The proposed special issue, ‘Methods and Advances in Marine Geology and Hydrodynamics Environment’ aims to collect the latest advances in the above-mentioned important marine science research topics. You are cordially invited to submit your work to the special issue and contribute to the marine community.
This Research Topic focuses on studies that pay attention to the latest insights in Methods and Advances in Marine Geology and Hydrodynamics Environment. This Research Topic welcomes in-situ observations, laboratory experiments, numerical simulations, theoretical analyses, big data, AI, and other methods to tackle scientific issues and develop practical values related to the theme. We call for original and novel papers related to Marine Geology and Hydrodynamics Environment in any of the following research topics:
· Development of ocean usage (e.g., engineering construction as well as the exploitation of marine energy and resources)
· Marine geology disasters (e.g., earthquakes, seabed instabilities, liquefaction, submarine landslides, and consequent tsunamis)
· Hydrodynamics (e.g., ocean currents, hyperpycnal flow, waves, and tides)
· Interactions between marine hydrodynamics and biological activities
· Marine environmental protection
