Cancer metabolism has been an active area of interest in the field for this decade and considered a promising therapeutic target for many different types of cancer. With recent advances of metabolomics, medical chemistry and metabolic imaging technologies, new metabolic pathways in cancer cell have been identified, and small molecules that specifically inhibit these pathways have been reported. In addition, a novel imaging technology that allow us to dynamically monitor metabolic state in cancer tissues has emerged recently to identify feature of metabolism in cancer cells.
This Research Topic aims to generate discussion regarding recent advances in the study of cancer metabolism in colorectal cancer and new imaging technologies that can monitor metabolic status in cancer cell/tissue, and also discuss how these findings can be applied clinically. By providing researchers with these findings, our goal is to help develop novel therapies for colorectal cancer by inhibiting and monitoring cancer metabolism. Furthermore, we aim to establish a novel concept of "theranostics (therapy + diagnostic) techniques that monitor and target cancer metabolism".
All types of articles (review, mini-review, and original research including translational reserach), related to cancer metabolism in colorectal cancer and metabolic imaging colorectal cancer are welcome to be submitted to this Research Topic.
