Musculoskeletal oncology is an ever-changing field of medicine and treatment has made vast strides in recent years. Sarcoma is a rare and heterogeneous tumor and therefore opportunities to learn from ongoing research benefit providers and patients in the sarcoma community. Bone metastasis, on the other hand, is much more common, but like sarcoma is heterogeneous and the unique features may dictate management. As patients live longer, due to improvements in therapeutics, it is imperative that we meet their needs in a collaborative and innovative manner.
This Research Topic aims to highlight research involving advances in the multidisciplinary treatment and management of sarcomas and bone metastasis, and demonstrate innovative ways to manage these complex cases in the localized and metastatic setting.
We welcome Original Research and Reviews on, but not limited to, the following themes:
- Novel therapeutics and treatment regimens for soft tissue tumors and bone metastasis such as tyrosine-kinase inhibitors, immunotherapy, etc.
- Outcomes in bone and soft tissue tumors and various factors that may impact these outcomes
- Novel multidisciplinary regimens in sarcoma and bone metastasis
Please note: manuscripts consisting solely of bioinformatics, computational analysis, or predictions of public databases which are not accompanied by validation (independent cohort or biological validation in vitro or in vivo) will not be accepted in any of the sections of Frontiers in Oncology.
