Suicide is one of the top leading causes of death in the world. Many risk factors are associated with increased suicide risk, including depression, anxiety, sociodemographic factors and substance use.
Due to the emergency of the issue, psychiatrists and other scientists are constantly seeking new ways to identify people at risk. Recent innovations in suicide research methods may similarly expand our understanding of the psychological and neurobiological correlates of suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
The goal of this Research Topic is to collect studies on prediction models and tools that assist suicide prevention, as well as gather more information on their predictive accuracy and clinical utility.
We welcome studies on:
- Computational models to predict suicide risk
- Clinical tools to identify people at risk of suicide attempts
- Innovative technologies and interventions that may reduce the risk
- Ethical and/or feasibility analyses of suicide risk prediction systems
- Individual- or population-level interventions to prevent suicide
