Shifting the boundaries of preparative techniques in chemistry can result in the formation of unprecedented and unforeseen compounds. Such novel materials can not only enhance our fundamental understanding of chemistry and physics, but also yield the next generation of functional materials in high technology applications.
The focus of this Research Topic is on syntheses under extreme conditions and the products obtained from them. Accordingly, we invite all preparative chemists to participate. We are encouraging contributions on reactions in ultra-alkaline or ultra-acidic media, with strongest oxidizers or reducers, at extreme temperatures and pressures (both high and low), in uncommon solvents, as well as everything else that not everybody can do, like reactions with Pm and elements beyond uranium.
We welcome the submission of Original Research, Review, Mini-review and Perspective articles on themes that include, but are not limited to:
• High-pressure
• Ultra-alkaline media
• Strong oxidizers
• Superacids
• Extreme temperatures
• Extreme electrochemical potential
• Compounds with Pm and elements beyond U
