Several billion years of evolution were needed to create an adaptive mechanism to insure the proper energy intake required for the survival of any organism. A plethora of hormonal and nervous signals are integrated at the level of the central nervous system and exert their actions onto discrete neural circuitry. Conceptual and technological breakthrough have allowed to further dissect the complexity of neuroendocrine control of feeding. Moreover, every hunger and satiety signal holds the promises of new strategy for tackling feeding-related diseases such as obesity or anorexia. The aim of this Research Topic is to assemble a series of original studies and reviews that will provide a broad view on the multifaceted aspects of feeding behavior regulation and highlight new concepts and findings in the field.
