With the improvement of surgical techniques and the maturation of perioperative management, organ transplantation has become an effective means for the treatment of end-stage organ diseases. In many large-scale transplant centers, organ transplantation is a routine surgical treatment. The continuous strengthening of the concept of multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment has made the connection between transplantation and oncology increasingly close. Therefore, transplant oncology came into being.
Nowadays, transplant oncology has gone far beyond the scope of surgery. It is a comprehensive discipline formed by the intersection, integration, penetration and promotion of surgery, oncology, immunology, organ preservation, immunosuppressive pharmacology, imaging, and other related disciplines. In 2014, Taizo Hibi, a professor at Kumamoto University, firstly proposed the concept of liver transplant oncology. As an emerging discipline, transplant oncology has opened up a new era of liver transplantation for the treatment of malignant tumors. In general, it is of great significance to achieve accurate diagnosis and treatment in the new era of liver transplant oncology.
This Research Topic aims to bring together scientists focusing on liver transplantation for liver cancer in the era of transplant oncology.
We encourage submissions of Original Research, Review, Mini Review, Hypothesis and Theory, focusing on but not limited to the following aspects:
1. Screening of emerging biomarkers for liver cancer.
2. Establishment and optimization of diagnostic and prognostic models of liver transplantation for liver cancer.
3. Immunotherapy in liver transplantation for liver cancer: tumor immunity and transplant rejection.
4. Microbiology and probiotic treatment in liver transplantation for liver cancer.
5. Multi-omics in liver transplantation for liver cancer, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, etc.
