Precision medicine refers to realizing accurate disease classification and diagnosis based on clinical information and population cohort information of patients and by modern genetic technology, molecular imaging technology and biological information technology, combined with the living environment, finally to perform personalized disease prevention and treatment. Classification of diseases plays an important role in precision medicine, which helps to explore new therapeutic strategies and develop new drugs and further improve clinical efficacy. For herbal medicine, syndrome classification plays an important role in disease diagnosis. The same disease may contain multiple syndromes, and different diseases may have the same syndrome. There are different therapeutic strategies for different syndromes. The combination of symptoms and prescriptions can better beneficial to promote the development of precision medicine.
In recent years, genomics and epigenetics, including DNA methylation, RNA methylation, and protein modification, have promoted the molecular typing of diseases and the construction of precision medicine. But the benefit of precise treatment to patients is still low. Therefore, further syndrome classification on the basis of disease classification, and the application of genomics and epigenetics could better beneficial to promote the development of precision medicine, and can also provide better therapeutic strategies for patients with treatment failure.
We welcome the submissions of original research articles, reviews, min-reviews, methods article, perspective, and opinions that mainly include but are not limited to:
1. Connection and difference between disease and syndrome classification;
2. Application of genomics and epigenetics in disease classification;
3. Application of genomics and epigenetics in syndrome classification;
4. Exploring disease prevention and treatment by disease and syndrome classification, genomics and epigenetics.
Please note that manuscripts consisting solely of bioinformatics, computational analysis, or predictions of public databases which are not accompanied by validation (independent cohort or biological validation in vitro or in vivo) will not be accepted.
