It aims to highlight recent advances in the field, whilst emphasizing important directions and new possibilities for future inquiries. We anticipate the research presented will promote discussion in the Stroke community that will translate to best practice applications in clinical, public health, and policy settings.
The Reviews in: Stroke collection welcomes full-length, mini or systematic review papers pertaining to but not limited to the following topics:
Diagnostics and Imaging of Stroke
• Imaging and neurovascular diagnostics in Stroke
• Biomarkers in acute Stroke
Mechanisms and therapeutic targets in Stroke
• Mechanisms of pathogenesis after ischemic stroke
• Potential therapeutic targets to attenuate brain damage and promote neurological and functional recovery following an ischemic stroke
• Evaluation of novel treatments (stem cells, exosomes, gene-silencing, etc.) in preclinical stroke models to improve outcomes after ischemic stroke.
Neuroimmunological and neurovascular effects of Stroke
• Neuroimmunology of Stroke, including mechanisms of Neuroinflammation and microglia activation.
• Stroke and blood-brain barrier dysfunction and associated effects, such as post-stroke edema.
Stroke and Cognition
• Post-stroke cognitive impairment, and its impact including, Memory loss, language, and Spatial neglect
• Cognitive reserve as an emerging paradigm in Stroke Recovery.
Stroke recovery and rehabilitation
• Mechanisms underlying the motor disorders following stroke
• Novel interventions for individuals to regain motor function after stroke
• Neurorehabilitation. Neuroplasticity and recovery after stroke.
Stroke Treatment and care
• Stroke Nursing and care, Secondary Prevention of Stroke, and Stroke Complications Management, such as Depression, Dysphagia and Sarcopenia.
• Neurocritical care in stroke treatment.
• Telemedical stroke care.
