Recent advances in cutaneous immunology have further elucidated the pathophysiology of immune-mediated skin disease. In turn, a more detailed understanding of disease pathways has directed us towards potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Biologics and small molecules have transformed the current landscape of therapeutics for immune-mediated skin disease, in conditions as varied as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and alopecia areata.
To incorporate advances in the genetics, pathophysiology, and clinical characteristics of immune-mediated skin disease, with the ultimate goal of facilitating the development of 1) novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and outcome measures and 2) therapeutic avenues.
This Research Topic will welcome papers aiming to collate the most up-to-date scientific research on cutaneous immunology, with a focus on:
- Genetics and pathophysiology of immune-mediated skin conditions
- Clinical characteristics, diagnostic criteria, management, and prognostic outcomes of immune-mediated skin conditions
