Bone has been considered a structure essential for mobility, calcium homeostasis, and hematopoietic function. Recent advances in bone biology have highlighted the importance of the skeleton as an endocrine organ which regulates some pathways, including spermatogenesis, insulin signalling and glucose tolerance.
Moreover, bone is the target organ of numerous hormones which are involved in the regulation of its homeostasis in physiological conditions as well as of its alterations in pathological states.
Thus, we encourage authors to highlight the role of bone as endocrine organ and endocrine target, we welcome contributions of different types of articles including original research articles, hypotheses and theory, as well as reviews and mini reviews.
