Understanding the molecular and behavioral underpinnings of brain function is critical to identifying novel therapeutic avenues to maintain and promote brain health, tackling conditions and pathologies ranging from mental and neurological disorders to neurodegenerative diseases and regeneration after injury. To that end, the modeling, validation, and implementation of in vitro and in vivo models of brain function and disease with translational potential is vital.
The aim of this Research Topic is to gather contributions from a wide array of scientists currently developing and working with diverse (i.e. cellular, animal or in silico) models for brain function and disease, with the overarching goal to provide translational approaches. In particular, this Research Topic is geared toward the identification of disease-modifying mechanisms and agents, a key limitation of current treatments.
We welcome all forms of submissions: Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Method Articles, Clinical Trials, Case Reports, Mini Review Articles, Code, Book Reviews, General Commentaries, Perspectives, Hypotheses & Theories, focused but not limited to the following subtopics:
- Computational approaches to understand brain function and disease
