Transcriptional regulation is a complex process that controls gene expression via communicating regulatory cues between DNA regulatory elements and transcriptional regulators. Emerging evidence demonstrated that transcriptional mis-regulation is one of the major causes of a broad range of cardiovascular diseases. With the development of epigenetics techniques and high-throughput profiling methods, abundant cardiovascular multi-omics data was released, which provides a panoramic view for the investigation of the transcriptional regulation in cardiovascular diseases. However, interpretation of the function and mechanism of gene transcriptional regulation is important but challenging, which needs comprehensive resources and support. Moreover, seeking pharmacological and biological strategies targeting essential transcriptional regulators or cis-regulatory elements is also the main challenge in cardiovascular research field.
Hence, this Research Topic mainly focuses on identifying the core cis-regulatory elements, deciphering the transcriptional regulatory networks and validating novel pharmacological and biological treatment strategies in cardiovascular disease. Specifically, core cis-regulatory elements contain enhancers, super enhancers, silencers and other crucial DNA regulatory elements. Transcriptional regulators (such as transcription factors, chromatin regulators, transcription cofactors) or genome variations involved in cis-regulation processes are also in the research focus.
We welcome submissions of the following sub-topics, but not limited to:
- Transcriptional regulators and regulatory network in cardiovascular diseases
- cis-regulatory element-driven transcription in cardiovascular diseases
- Optimized transcriptional factor in cardiovascular diseases
- Core transcriptional regulatory circuit in cardiovascular diseases
- Histone modification in cardiovascular diseases
- Transcriptional regulation in cell reprogramming for cardiovascular system
- Uncovering transcriptional regulatory mechanisms in cardiovascular diseases based on multi-omics technology
- Transcriptional regulation of energy metabolism in cardiovascular diseases
- RNA modifications in cardiovascular diseases
- Transcriptional regulation that remodels the immune system in cardiovascular diseases
