Modern society depends on research and the advancement of science in order to achieve health and prosperity for all. However, to build on already successful science, we encompass the need to discuss the current challenges and issues faced.
Frontiers recognize the importance of facilitating debate and discussion amongst the community, and so this Research Topic offers an opportunity for debate within cardiovascular epidemiology and prevention: 2022.
The ongoing increase in cardiovascular disease is a global issue however, the increased incidence is highlighted in medium to low-income countries. Increased population screening and risk prediction could be a crucial strategy to address this increase. Several options are available with a particular interest in telemedicine for population screening. Manuscripts which discuss the benefits or disadvantages of at-home screening devices and their potential implications in population screening and risk prediction are encouraged
This Research Topic wishes to foster debate and discussion in the community with pros and cons on the following topics:
1) The use of telemedicine in population screening and risk prediction (blood glucose or pressure monitoring, electrophysiology and biomarker tracing).
2) Implications of antiplatelet therapy in cardiovascular medicine.
3) The increasing influence of environmental factors in cardiovascular disease.
4) Long COVID-19.
5) Control of high blood pressure.
6) Impact of pre-existing cardiovascular disease and risk factors for incidence of COVID-19.
