Corporate entrepreneurs are hard-working individuals whose roles encapsulate two important, but contradictory, positions. On the one hand, they must focus on exploring, evaluating, and exploiting entrepreneurial opportunities to create value. On the other hand, they shall face organizational inertia against change. In order to overcome this, they need to innovate, take risks, and create value simultaneously. Many scholars have already focused on these organizational heroes, while many studies have overlooked their psychological, mental, or emotional health implications. Some of these issues might lead to depression among organizational entrepreneurs and might, in rare cases, lead to intense actions such as suicide. As entrepreneurs are change agents of societies, their psychological, mental, and emotional health is critical to a healthy society. Therefore, this Research Topic is focused on the psychological health and potential disorders of corporate entrepreneurs in various contexts.
Previous research on corporate entrepreneurship has marginally highlighted the psychological aspects of enterprising by corporate entrepreneurs. Despite the long history of exploring the psychological characteristics of entrepreneurs, the need for exploring such issues has increased, as some scholars have recently investigated topics such as depression among entrepreneurs using scoping reviews. More precisely, corporate entrepreneurs have less been explored in the extant literature. The lack of enough studies in this field has created a significant gap in the literature, which has been widened due to a lack of applying interdisciplinary theories. For instance, the suicide risk is marginally investigated among corporate entrepreneurs. This Research Topic invites authors to submit their original research articles, systematic reviews, methods, perspectives, case reports, conceptual analyses, and empirical studies.
