Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience is delighted to present the ‘Reviews In’ series of article collections.
This collection will showcase high-quality review articles which address the most pressing questions and impactful research at the forefront of Parkinson’s disease and aging-related movement disorders.
It aims to highlight recent advances in basic and translational research while emphasizing novel experimental or analytical strategies worthy of further investigation.
We anticipate that this collection will promote discussion within the community and accelerate our approach toward much-needed breakthroughs in understanding the etiology, progression, treatment, and prevention of Parkinson’s disease and aging-related movement disorders.
This Research Topic will welcome submissions on the following subtopics, with a particular focus on opportunities for treatment:
- Therapeutics targeting neuroinflammation in neurodegenerative disease
- The link between neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegeneration
- Mechanisms of alpha-synuclein spread and toxicity, as well as treatments to attenuate these
- Gut-brain axis and therapeutic approaches focusing on the microbiome
- Other disease modifying treatments
