Frontiers in Energy Research is delighted to present the ‘Reviews in’ series of article collections.
Reviews in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage 2022 will publish high-quality scholarly review papers on key topics in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage. It aims to highlight recent advances in the field, whilst emphasizing important directions and new possibilities for future inquiries. We anticipate the research presented will promote discussion in the 'carbon capture, utilization, and storage community' that will translate to best practice applications in the entire breadth of Energy Research.
Reviews in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage 2022 collection welcomes full-length, mini or systematic review papers. New articles will be added to this collection as they are published.
Topics of interest to the Research Topic include, but are not limited to;
• The advances in carbon management research including fundamental studies on solvents and materials (e.g. absorbents, adsorbents, and membranes),
• The design of novel systems and processes for carbon capture and storage (CCS)
• Advances in developing novel chemistry and processes for carbon dioxide utilization and conversion using renewable energy.
• Integration of CCS into the electricity system
• Integration of CCS in industrial processes
• Post-combustion carbon capture technologies such as liquid chemisorption, adsorption, membrane separation, and cryogenic removal
• Negative emission technologies such as direct air capture of CO2 and bioenergy with CCS
• Advanced technologies serve the safe and efficient transportation of CO2
• Chemistry and physics of CO2 geologic storage
• Innovative monitoring, verification, and accounting approaches related to CO2 storage
• Thermo-/electro-/photo-chemical conversion of CO2 into chemicals/fuels
• Conversion of CO2 into bioenergy and its environmental effects
• CCUS related process integration and intensification
• Case and feasibility studies serve the efficient implementation of CCUS
