Immune checkpoint inhibitors are one of the most significant therapeutic innovations in the oncologic landscape so far, demonstrating dramatic successes in the treatment of advanced cancer. These monoclonal antibodies exert antitumoral effect by activating T cells, rejuvenating the antitumor effect of these immune cells. Even though it has been shown that such molecules are effective in a variety of malignancies, they are often responsible for inducing various immune-related adverse events. Indeed, if not recognized and treated promptly, they can lead to endocrine disorders, and endocrine organs damage.
With the increasing number of patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors, this Research Topic aims to spotlight the endocrine consequences of these treatments. We welcome Original Research, Review, Opinion and Perspective articles including but not limited to the following themes:
