We are now well into the third decade of the 21st Century, and, especially in the last few years, the achievements made by scientists have been exceptional, leading to major advancements in the fast-growing field of research metrics and analytics.
This editorial initiative, led by Drs. Zohreh Zahedi, Jiangen He, Shalini Urs, Selenay Aytac, Louise Spiteri, Siluo Yang, Maria Cláudia Cabrini Grácio, Arash Hajikhani, and Hsin-Ning Su is focused on new insights, novel developments, current challenges, recent advances, and future perspectives in the sub-fields of research assessment, scholarly communication, and patent analytics.
The Research Topic solicits brief, forward-looking contributions from editorial board members that either describe the state of the art or highlight the changes needed to move the sub-fields forward. Authors are encouraged to identify the greatest challenges in research assessment, scholarly communication, and patent analytics, and how to address those challenges.
The goal of the Research Topic is to shed light on the progress made in the past decade in the relevant sub-fields and on their future challenges to provide a thorough overview of the state of the art of those sub-fields.
