Chronic diseases have become the most frequent causes of death in many countries, including the US and China. Poor diet and nutrition directly link to chronic diseases. Improving one’s diet and nutrition can save lives and reduce the burdens of medical costs. Since its establishment in 2012,
North America Chinese Association for Nutrition (NACAN), formerly known as North America Chinese Society for Nutrition (NACSN), has been promoting nutrition research and education among North America Chinese scholars both in the US and abroad.
We believe more research on nutrition and foods can lead to a healthy life for individuals and community. This year, along with other guest organizations, we are hosting the
4th virtual NACAN Frontiers in Nutrition Summit (July 22-24th 2022), where research frontiers for nutrition and food sciences will be presented in the following themes: emerging fields of research, scientific base of nutrition, agriculture and food production, nutrition and public health for a healthy life.
This Research Topic aims to showcase the research contributed to the summit, however presentation at the symposium is not required for submission. We welcome Original Research and Review articles from both the presenters and outside researchers to address the 4 themes:
• Emerging fields of research: New and innovative areas, especially revolutionary and/or multi-disciplinary approaches that address fundamental questions in nutrition, food, and health sciences.
• Scientific base of nutrition: Mechanistic studies that decipher the underlying links between nutrients, diet, and chronic diseases.
• Agriculture and food production: Functional foods, bioactive compounds, nutraceuticals and novel food processing technologies that improve human health.
• Nutrition and public health: Clinical and population-based studies that examine the role of diet, food, and nutrition in health and disease.
