The earth is the space that human beings depend on. Earth observation and remote sensing use modern information technologies to carry out disaster and threat early warning, mineral and resource detection, climate change and other real-time monitoring, prediction and distribution law exploration of adjacent space, surface and internal structure of the earth. It has been widely employed in military, civil, energy and other fields, and has become an indispensable information technology means for the development of human society.
In recent years, with the continuous development of Earth Science and remote sensing technology, especially the continuous emergence of different detection sensors and new detection systems, and the continuous accumulation of historical data and samples, it becomes possible to use artificial intelligence (AI) for big data training. Therefore, the purpose of this Research Topic is to present and disseminate recent advances in various subjects addressing applications of AI in the fields of geophysical exploration, earth observation disaster warning, geothermal energy development, oil-gas well engineering, surface multi temporal changes, environmental remote sensing, optical remote sensing, as well as different sensor detection and imaging.
Key topics include, but are not limited to:
• AI in geothermal extraction and manufacture of thermal reservoir
• AI for interdisciplinary research of exploration geophysics and other subjects
• AI in oil-gas well engineering
• AI for object detection in high-resolution remote sensing imagery
• AI in hyperspectral image processing
• AI in SAR imaging, classification and object detection
• AI in multi-temporal change detection and object detection
• AI in multi-source heterogeneous information fusion
• AI in LiDAR remote sensing
• AI in UAV remote sensing
• AI in quantitative remote sensing
• Knowledge-driven deep learning for geoscience & remote sensing applications
