The concept of Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) has penetrated into all fields of surgery. How to implement ERAS is an important topic and challenge during the perioperative period. Due to the particularity of the surgical sites, neurosurgery has a great impact on the physiological functions. Patients underwent neurosurgeries often need a long time to recover, and some may even have complications of nerve injury postoperatively. The implementation of ERAS in neurosurgery is imperative, which will be conducive to the recovery of patients, help shorten the hospitalization time of patients, and even reduce surgical complications.
ERAS in neurosurgery mainly requires the joint implementation of neurosurgery, anesthesiology, nursing, nutrition, psychology and other disciplines. Its main purpose is to promote the rapid recovery of patients through perioperative optimal management, which is fundamentally beneficial to reducing perioperative complications and improving the life quality of patients. This research topic aims to attract the attentions of surgeons and anesthesiologists to the role of ERAS in neurosurgery, and ultimately to improve the recovery of neurosurgical patients.
We welcome submissions on the following topics, but are not limited to:
- Influences of anesthetics on neurosurgery patients during perioperative period
- Surgical strategies on ERAS in neurosurgery patients
- Impacts of perioperative nutrition, nursing and psychological management on ERAS in neurosurgery patients
- Perioperative Management of neurosurgical patients with complications
