About

With the development and progress of science and technology, the interaction mechanisms between the gut microbiota and the host are becoming more evident. The composition and structure, physiological functions, and pathogenic or beneficial changes of gut microbiota have been found to be closely related to the occurrence, development, and prevention of various diseases. These diseases can be gut-related such as inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity, and type 2 diabetes, but also gut-unrelated such as atopy, and hypertension for instance.

This Research Topic aims to deepen our understanding of the interaction mechanisms between the gut microbiota and the host, with a focus on the intervention strategies of traditional Chinese medicine such as single Chinese herbs (eg. Ginseng, Panax notoginseng, etc. ) and formulas (e.g. Gegen-Qinlian Decoction, Qingfei Paidu Decoction, etc.). The overarching goal is to provide inspiration of traditional Chinese medicine for the prevention and treatment of complex diseases and mechanism research.

We welcome Original Research, Meta-analysis, Review, Hypothesis and Theory, Perspective, Brief Research Report, General Commentary, and Opinion article types.
