Structural heart interventions have seen tremendous growth in last few years. Structural heart started with transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in 2002 and now has developed into a full-fledged subspecialty in Cardiology.
TAVR has progressed form being approved for high-risk patients to all group of patients now. Transcatheter therapies for other valve disorders involving mitral, tricuspid valves are still in their early stages of development. This has given rise to need for multi-modality imaging for device development, procedural planning and intra procedural guidance of these structural heart interventions. This includes trans-esophageal echocardiogram, Cardiac CT, Cardiac MRI, 3D Intracardiac echocardiography.
The aim of this Research Topic is to provide a platform for publication of latest research on multi-modality imaging for these complex Structural Heart Interventions. This will encompass use of trans-esophageal echocardiogram, Cardiac CT, Cardiac MRI, 3D Intracardiac echocardiography for catheter based procedures ranging from transcatheter aortic and pulmonic valve replacement, left atrial appendage occlusion procedures, percutaneous mitral repair techniques, and, transcatheter mitral valve replacement and tricuspid interventions.
Sub-themes of interest include:
1) Multi Modality Imaging for transcatheter Mitral Valve repair and replacement.
2) Multi Modality Imaging for transcatheter Tricuspid Valve repair and replacement.
3) Role of 3 D Intracardiac Imaging in structural heart interventions.
4) Artificial Intelligence in procedural planning and imaging.
5) Fusion Imaging for procedural guidance.
6) 3D Transesophageal echocardiography for Structural heart interventions.
7) 3D Printing, Computational Modeling, and Artificial Intelligence for Structural Heart Interventions.
