Individuals with different social characteristics and interpersonal relationships will present different social behaviors which have different effects on society. Among the social behaviors, prosocial behaviors are the basis of a good social order, which is of great significance to improving individual self-esteem, realizing individual self-satisfaction, enhancing interpersonal communication, and promoting interpersonal harmony while antisocial behavior will lead to serious economic burden and spiritual distress to families and society and has become a major concern in the fields of sociology, psychology, management, and other fields. With the increasing number of natural disasters and public health events, many social behaviors such as donation behavior, volunteer behavior, and aggression have emerged in recent years. The research on social behavior and its motivation are also developing rapidly.
Besides being influenced by life experiences, human actions are also driven by personality factors. For example, people with gratitude personality traits are more inclined to prosocial behaviors such as helping people and giving. On the other side, people with impulsive personality traits are more likely to develop violent aggression. In addition, as a core function of the human executive system, response monitoring also plays a key role in behavior correction, adaptive behavior, and goal-directed behavior, and is a psychological basis for changing and intervening in social behavior.
To guide prosocial behaviors, stimulate prosocial motivation, and reduce and curb the generation of antisocial behaviors, this Research Topic focuses on deep motivation, influencing factors (especially personality factors), early warning, monitoring, and intervention of prosocial and antisocial behavior. We welcome submissions of various research methods, including scale detection, biochemical detection, behavior observation, and mixed methods.
