Given the success of
Volume I of this Research Topic, and how rapid the subject area is evolving, we are pleased to announce the launch of Advanced Steel and Composite Structures in Civil Engineering Volume II.
With the development of material science and technology, steel and its components become more and more lightweight and of high strength. They can be widely used in civil engineering structures, e.g., high-rise structures, long-span structures, and marine structures. It has been proved that steel and composite structures can significantly improve structural performance and reduce the economic costs for their excellent mechanical properties. So the industrial demand for advanced steel is tremendous, and the steel manufacturing and processing methods are hence developed. However, all advanced steel and composite structures should be rigorously tested and assessed before popularization and application. The comprehensive investigation on characterizing and predicting the performance of these engineering materials and structures is essential for practical engineering applications.
This Research Topic focuses on collecting the frontier technology of advanced steel and composite structures, including theoretical and experimental researches, as well as their applications in structural engineering. This Research Topic also provides an effective platform for researchers to communicate and show their research findings. In this collection, reviews, short communication, and full-length original article are welcomed. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following items:
• Steel structures;
• Metal matrix composite and structures;
• Structural performance of steel and composite structures;
• Structural health monitoring;
• Physical, chemical, and mechanical characterization of advanced steel;
• Theoretical and experimental research;
• Simulation and optimization research;
• Industrial application of steel and composite structures.
