This Frontiers Research Topic aims to cover the most up-to-date research endeavor and scientific viewpoints from members of the Japanese Society of Lymphology and from non-members who cover research areas of interest to the society.
The research interests of the Japanese Society of Lymphology include the study of lymphology combined with angiology, oncology, immunology and its basic sciences with a focus on the lymphatic flow.
Examples of studies led by the Society include the investigation of the lymphatic flow-mediated production and release of nitric oxide-dependent lymphatic function, the pathophysiological roles of lymphatic flow in developing micro-metastasis of carcinoma cells in sentinel lymph node, and the immunological roles of water intake-mediated shear stress stimulation in the regulation of mucosal immunity in small intestine.
This Research Topic welcomes studies that cover, but are not limited to, the following research areas:
1. Mechanical forces and embryology of lymph vessel
2. Lymph flow and morphological properties of lymph vessel
3. Lymph flow and function of lymph vessel
4. Lymph flow and lymph edema
5. Lymph flow and lymphatic metastasis of carcinoma cells
6. Lymph flow and gut mucosal immunity.
