Agricultural waste has caused ecological and environmental problems. Unlike other industries, agricultural wastes contain many recyclable resources. Biotechnology could convert agricultural organic wastes and residues into fertilizers and renewable energy. Biotechnology and pyrolysis can not only solve the problems of environmental pollution but also realize the utilization of agricultural waste and contribute to the realization of sustainable development of green agricultural system technology. However, the traditional biological technology and pyrolysis for agricultural waste have some problems, such as the complicated process, high energy consumption, and low production efficiency. It is of vital importance to improve the efficiency of the biological and pyrolysis processes and innovate clean renewable agricultural waste biotechnology and pyrolysis.
The goal of a low-carbon and low-energy world urgently requires the research and development of agricultural waste to produce high-value products and innovative biotransformation technologies with low energy consumption. This research topic aims to explore the high efficiencies of bio-conversion processes and bio-conversion technologies. This research topic will provide valuable and innovative research findings on renewable energy, fertilizer, and biochar production from agricultural wastes, greenhouse gas emission control during waste management, agricultural and rural sewage recycling, crop straw resource utilization, non-point source pollution control.
We welcome, but are not limited to, contributions on the following topics:
1. Conversion from agricultural waste to high-value production of bioenergy and bioproducts.
2. Odor and greenhouse gas reduction technologies.
3. Low carbon cycle model of agricultural waste utilization.
4. Clean biotechnologies for agricultural waste treatment and utilization.
5. Innovative methods for agricultural waste bioconversion technologies.
