Urothelial carcinoma especially upper tract origin is one of most common malignancy in Taiwan, where the urologists managed the patients who are associated with identified risk factors including Chinese herbs, chronic kidney diseases and smoking. With the advancing of minimal invasive techniques and diagnostic modalities, we collected a large patient cohort with a long term follow-up period. Based on these results and analysis, we believe the findings can provide new insights and evidence of urothelial carcinoma of renal pelvis and ureter.
The oncological outcomes of nephroureterectomy for advanced urothelial carcinoma of renal pelvis and ureter remains unclear, we need a large cohort from multiple medical centers to understand the benefits from the radical surgery.
Among the multi-center study, several important prognostic factors could be identified and the authors are encouraged to investigate different patient sub-groups. The findings are of important to make the treatment strategy more precisely.
