Hepatic inflammation is typically present in all liver disease stages and associated with the development of fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. And it also plays a key role in liver tissue repair and regeneration. Thus, understanding the molecular mechanisms of liver inflammation and discovering novel therapeutic targets is imperative. It is known that innate immune cells in the liver, such as neutrophils, macrophages, and innate lymphocytes, contribute to tissue inflammation and injury during hepatic. The balance between immune tolerance and immune activity is critical to liver physiological functions and is responsible for the sensitivity of this organ to liver diseases, a better understanding of the innate immune system regulate microenvironment stability of the liver will be helpful for proposing effective treatments for liver diseases, especially, potential targets and new treatments for liver disease have promising future based on regulating the function of innate immune cells.
This Research Topic aims not only to investigate the pathogenesis and pathophysiological processes of inflammation-associated liver diseases, but also to focus on targets research, drug conversion, and druggability research, based on the informatics approach, and further discover novel therapeutic targets and strategies for treatment. Most importantly, it will give new sight into the field of basic and clinical research. This topic hopes to include the screening of new drugs from new targets, the construction of novel drug vector systems, early diagnosis, the study of pathological mechanisms, drug development, and the study of sequencing tools (e.g., single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptome, the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) systems).
