We are pleased to introduce the collection Frontiers in Built Environment –  Editor’s Picks 2022. This collection showcases the most well-received stand-alone articles from 2020 and 2021, selected by our Field Chief Editor, Professor Izuru Takewaki.

The work presented here highlights the broad diversity of research published across the journal and aims to put a spotlight on the main areas of interest. All research presented here displays strong advances in theory, experiment, and methodology with applications to compelling problems. This collection aims to further support Frontiers’ strong community of scholars by recognizing highly deserving authors, as well as contributing editors and reviewers.
