Skin microcirculation is a complex network responsible for the efficient exchange of gases and nutrients and the removal of the waste products of metabolism. It is also at the first line of defense, during tissue injury and inflammation. It does not come as a surprise that the microvasculature plays an important role in the pathogenetic mechanisms associated with pathologic skin disorders, and most importantly with autoimmune diseases and vasculitis.
With this Research Topic, we would like to put in evidence the current knowledge and importance of microcirculation studies in the diagnosis of dermatological diseases, acral lesions, vascular rashes in Covid 19 infection, and hemodynamic coherence for monitoring the microcirculation.
We aim to investigate the current knowledge and the recent advances in dermatological manifestations associated with microvascular diseases, and new thermal readaptation approaches in the treatment of vascular acrosyndromes.
In this Research Topic we would welcome reviews, mini-reviews, original research articles, and other article types focusing on, but not limited to, the following themes:
- Current knowledge of microcirculation in the diagnosis of dermatological diseases.
- New techniques for the monitoring of the microcirculation homeostasis, to allow early detection of skin diseases related to microcirculation dysfunctions.
- Acral cutaneous lesions.
- Dermatologic manifestation of Covid-19 related to microcirculation dysfunctions.
