Maternal-Fetal Medicine has presented several advances in the last decade. However, according to a recent OECD report, despite significant improvements in the main health indicators throughout most Latin American countries, the results are far from desired. Differences are largely mediated by social and economic disparities between and within countries. Which also translates into a heterogeneous patient management and poor results. The status and implementation of the latest evidence-based recommendations throughout Latin America countries is unclear. In part, because there are multiple factors that limit the scientific productivity of well-established centers (e.g. lack of funding, language barrier, etc.). Furthermore, whether the implementation of these recommendations translates into improved outcomes in the Latin American population is largely undocumented. Therefore, a greater understanding of local reality becomes necessary.
Our goal is to provide a comprehensive update of the state of the art throughout Latin American countries, with emphasis on the implementation of the latest recommendations in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and to collect articles that allow us to evaluate if the results obtained are comparable with those previously reported in other populations.
We welcome Original Research and Clinical Trials related, but not limited, to the following aspects:
1. Patient risk assessment
2. Performance of screening strategies for main obstetrics pathologies (e.g. Preeclampsia, Fetal Growth Restriction, Gestational Diabetes, etc)
3. Labor and birth management
4. Perinatal outcomes
5. Implementation and results of Fetal surgery centers
