Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong condition often bringing disabilities and an important burden to families and societies. High quality specialized early interventions have proven to positively impact the developmental trajectories of the individuals with ASD, as well as caregivers’ mental health. Unfortunately, children still access services at approximately 5 years of age, despite research showing a higher impact when intervention starts within the first three years of life in comparison to a later start. Over the last decade, many research attempts have shown that it is possible to implement evidence-based specialized early interventions in community settings, but many geographical areas of the world still lack high quality services for young children with ASD.
Authors will be welcome to present original articles, and reviews summarizing the most recent advances in early intervention for ASD, including efficacy and effectiveness studies, work with infants, implementation in school settings, parent mediated therapy.
