The prevalence of psychological problems, such as dementia, depression, and anxiety, is increasing with aging. Such problems can seriously damage the health and quality of life of the elderly population. They can also increase the demand for care and financial burden to families and society. Nurses play important roles in screening, diagnosis, and liaising with families to take care of the elderly with psychological disorders. In order to better improve the quality of nursing and promote healthy aging, it is important to obtain the best evidence of care for the elderly with these disorders, as well as that of training nurses who care for them.
This collection will focus on a large range of problems facing caring for the elderly and those that care for the elderly, and papers focused on various aspects of this are welcome. The Topic Editors are particularly interested in manuscripts that deal with the following important questions:
• How do we assess the cognitive function status of the elderly more conveniently?
• How do we prevent the occurrence of dementia or delay the development of cognitive impairment among the elderly?
• How do we care for the elderly with psychological symptoms, such as depression and anxiety?
• How do we deal with mental status among the elderly with falls?
• How do we support the caregivers of the elderly?
• How do we train nurses who care for the elderly with potential /existential psychological disorders?
Manuscripts that are welcomed include: original research, systematic review/data analyses, mini review, clinical trial, curriculum, instruction, and pedagogy, or study protocol.
