The work presented here highlights the diversity of research performed across the entire breadth of Plant Systems Biology research and presents advances in theory, experiment, and methodology with applications to compelling problems.
At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging women away from science-related fields, and STEM research in particular. Science and gender equality are, however, essential to ensure sustainable development as highlighted by UNESCO. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers. Therefore, Frontiers in Plant Science is proud to offer this platform to an all-women editorial board to assemble a collection of articles in all fields of Plant Systems Biology. We welcome article submissions from everyone.
Plant systems biology offers a global view by employing a systemic approach integrating molecular data from different hierarchical levels. The scientific challenge is to integrate various biological information into a coherent whole, with an integrative process between experimental data and computational modeling. We invite articles that employ systems biology approaches to study topics from the molecular to the ecosystem levels. We particularly encourage the submission of original research articles. Other formats are welcome after the discussion with the editorial board of this Special Issue.
